Spring is (almost) here!

The Spring season is one we always look forward to - the cold of Winter has mostly passed, with new growth and more light present by the day.

In Chinese Medicine, the Spring season correlates with the Liver organ. This is an excellent time to work off the heaviness of Winter and incorporate fresh, vibrant newly sprouting greens which greatly support the Liver.

Some choose Spring as the season to kickstart an annual cleanse. Whether you decide to gently incorporate Liver-supporting foods and products like our
Green Drink or go for a full-on Liver Cleanse, don't miss this seasonal opportunity to give your body the gift of health!

From Sunday March 20th to Saturday March 26th, The Dragon's Den Herb Shop will have lots of great products on sale!

Here are some of the products we'll be featuring:

Our Whole Host Defense Mushrooms Line will be 20% off!

Pure Radiance C is a customer favorite! We prefer plant-based over synthetic supplements, and this Vitamin C product is made entirely from fruits loaded with Vitamin C.

The Dragon's Den Green Drink!

There are many Green Drink powder blends and supplements out there. Why not use one that’s been successfully used for years in Dr. Malik Cotter's Cleanse and Rejuvenate programs?

The
Dragon’s Den Green Drink is our best seller and for good reason. It’s chock full of fresh juice extracts of Dandelion, Oatgrass, Wheatgrass, and Alfalfa along with Spirulina and Chlorella.

Our Green Drink is a natural source of Chlorophyll, which is known for its internal cleansing properties.

Chlorophyll is a beneficial natural compound because it is similar to hemoglobin. Every single blood cell in the body relies on hemoglobin for proper oxygenation.

Instead of an iron molecule, Chlorophyll has a magnesium molecule bound to it [
1]. Magnesium is an especially important mineral because it is essential for many different processes in our body such as regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure and making protein, bone, and DNA [2].

Have you tried the Dragon's Den Green Drink? It has become a staple for many customers and staff alike!

Liver Cleansing Foods

Supplements are a great resource to provide your body with much needed nutrients. However, everything and anything you consume (food, drinks, and even thoughts!) will eventually go through the Liver for processing.

This Spring season, give your Liver the love it needs by taking a break from all the different foods, drinks, supplements, and unnecessary thoughts you consume on a daily basis. Eat simpler and receive your nutrients from highly nutritive and beneficial foods for the Liver.

Here's a short list of foods that benefit the Liver:
  • Leafy & Bitter Greens: Mustard, Sorrel, Arugula, Collards, Kale, Romaine, Endive, Dandelion
  • Green tea (Like Organic Gen Maicha Green Tea)
  • Green veggies: Asparagus, Cucumber, Cruciferous vegetables, Celery
  • Chlorophyll, Wheat grasses, Seaweeds & Spirulina (Like Dragon's Den Green Drink)
  • Sour Fruits: Lemons, Lime, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Crab apple, Sour plums
Sour and bitter foods are highly beneficial for the Liver. These flavors stimulate digestion and bile flow by increasing production of gastrin, a hormone that the stomach makes to release hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is important in helping to break down food and nutrients for absorption.
Long story short: the bitterer, the better!
