Dragon’s Den Winter 2018

*|MC:SUBJECT|*

Aloha friends!

Are you ready for winter?

In Chinese medicine, living in tune with the seasons is of great benefit.

The transition from Fall to Winter brings upon us an opportunity to strengthen our immune system.

Here are some things that we recommend to keep healthy, balanced and vital during this upcoming winter season.

5 of Our Favorite Cold/Flu Remedies

1. Gan Mao Ling

Roughly translated as "Common Cold Cure", Gan Mao Ling is suggested for use at the first sign of a cold or flu. It's also used as a preventative if one has been exposed to someone who has a cold or flu. This is one of our best-selling patents, so make sure you've got a bottle or two for this winter season!

2. Chuan Xin Lian

Chuan Xin Lian is a Chinese Medicine with Andrographis as the "emperor" herb. Andrographis is both cooling and bitter, which can help calm a fiery sore throat or fever.

3. Echinacea - Astragalus Tincture

We love this formula because it's a beautiful meeting of two Eastern and Western herbs that support the immune system. We like to add it to lemonade, using natural sweeteners such as stevia or maple syrup, and adding spices such as cayenne, turmeric and ginger.

4. Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry Syrup is something that belongs in almost every medicine cabinet. It's anti-viral activity has been a point of scientific interest and study. (Read more here and here.)

Sure, you can buy Elderberry Syrup at your local health store - but there's something deeply satisfying about making your own.  Homemade Elderberry Syrup makes a great immune-supporting gift for friends and family of all ages.

There are plenty of recipes available on how to make Elderberry syrup. We like
this blog by Mountain Rose Herbs.

If you're not able to source fresh elderberries, dried organic elderberries are available too. Feel free to send us an
email if you're interested in ordering.

5. Medicinal Mushrooms

There are so many reasons to work with mushrooms. This
Tedtalk by Paul Stamets says it all.
But what's really neat about these fungi is that they work like "superfoods for the immune system", as Malik taught in his recent Cleanse Class. Our favorite mushrooms include Reishi, Cordyceps, Chaga, Lion's Mane, and Turkey Tail. We stock many different forms of mushrooms at the Dragon's Den, including powder, capsules, liquid extracts (and even coffee and chocolate!).
Stop in and stock up on your medicinal mushrooms!
