Sesame Unlu

Licensed Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, Certified Herbalist, Doctor of Oriental Medicine

Sesame Unlu received her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 2011 at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. Sesame is a general practitioner with a special interest in Women’s Health, pain management and injury rehabilitation. She integrates acupuncture, massage, yoga therapy, Chinese herbal medicine and functional medicine with her patients’ conventional care. Sesame’s acupuncture style is greatly influenced by her 12 years of experience as a massage therapist. She palpates the meridians as part of her diagnosis, while also gently opening and preparing the meridians for needle insertion. In her experience, the combination of acupuncture and massage therapy provides exponential healing potential. Her work is also greatly influenced by Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist master, with whom she completed a yearlong study in Advanced Acupuncture at the Jade Purity Foundation in New York City. Sesame is a long time student and friend of Dr. Malik Cotter. If you’re not able to make an appointment with Malik, he recommends that you make an appointment with Sesame. Having apprenticed with Malik and assisted him in his clinic, she is very familiar with his approach to healing through the use of acupuncture, Chinese medicine, nutrition, and cleansing.
